Toshiba takes the affordable route with new Windows 8.1 tablets and laptops

At consumer electronics show IFA in Berlin, Toshiba revealed a range of laptop and tablet products, including the new Toshiba Encore Windows 8.1 tablet, an 8-inch device that will cost just US$329.

The new tablet will come with pre-installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013.

The polycarbonate-clad device has a 1280×800 pixel multitouch display and is powered by an Intel Bay Trail Atom processor.

The Encoree also has 32GB of internal storage and a microSD slot allows an additional 32GB of storage.

It also comes with an 8-megapixel camera, a micro-HDMI port and dual microphones.

The tablet will enter the marketplace in November.

New Toshiba 2-in-1 laptop/tablets

As well as the Encore, Toshiba launched the W30t and W30Dt Satellite Click – a 13.3-inch ultraportable laptop with a backlit keyboard that can be detached and converted into a tablet device. The tablet comes with 500GB HDD storage and DTS Studio Sound.

It comes with an AMD A4 processor and 4GB of RAM and will sell for around US$599.
