iOS 4.2 is now available to download for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch devices, bringing a slew of new features for Apple fans.

iPads will now support multitasking, letting users switch between the apps they’re running instantly, while preserving battery life.

Users can organise apps via drag-and-drop, using folders and their Mail app now has a unified inbox, fast inbox switching and a threaded message view.

Game Centre lets users challenge their friends or be matched with new opponents. They can also showcase their scores and achievements and discover the new games their friends are playing.

AirPlay lets users stream media content wirelessly from their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices to Apple TV. They can also use AirPort Express and AirPlay to stream wirelessly to any stereo or powered speakers or to AirPlay-enabled speakers within the next few months.

AirPrint is also included, letting users print from their iOS devices to printers which support it. These will include the HP Photosmart, HP LaserJet Pro and HP Officejet.

The Find My iPhone feature is now free to use without needing a MobileMe subscription. It also works for iPad and iPod touch. This helps users find their iOS devices on a map and have it play a sound or display a message. Users can also remotely lock or wipe data from a lost device.

There is now enhanced enterprise support, letting businesses use stronger security features, new device management functions and support for 25 additional languages, including Portuguese, Korean and Traditional Chinese.

iOS 4.2 is available from today when users sync their device to iTunes 10.1.
