Location app Foursquare grows to 10m users

21 Jun 2011

Location-based social networking service Foursquare has reached the 10m-user landmark and has produced an animated info graphic that outlines its trajectory.

The company was set up by Dennis Crowley and Naveen Naveen Selvadurai only two years ago and the popular app works on all mobile operating systems.

Despite Facebook muscling in on the location scene with its Places service, Foursquare’s founders have demonstrated a focused determination to simply steam ahead.

More than 10,000 software developers are using Foursquare’s API and more than 400,000 businesses, including IKEA, Bank of America and Victoria’s Secret use the app to stay in touch with customers.
