Outage downs WordPress for two hours

22 Feb 2010

More than 10 million blogs were bumped offline for almost two hours after an outage at WordPress.com.

A problem at the company’s data centre shut down the blogging platform for 110 minutes, affecting 10.2 million blogs and costing the bloggers more than 5.5 million page views, WordPress said.

“We are still gathering details, but it appears an unscheduled change to a core router by one of our data centre providers messed up our network in a way we haven’t experienced before, and broke the site,” reads a post on the WordPress site.
