Mentors help entrepreneurs at expo

19 Oct 2010

The Start and Grow Enterprise Expo in Portlaoise on 8 October has been deemed successful, with more than 50 exhibitors and more than 400 visitors attending on the day.

It was all about helping potential entrepreneurs and existing businesses examine all aspects of what is involved in setting up and developing a business.

Experienced business mentors were on hand to give one-to-one individual tailored advice to more than 50 people on the day.

A highlight of the day were the three themed seminars – Start a Business, Grow a Business, and Market Opportunities. Speakers included well-known serial entrepreneur John Teeling of Cooley Distillery, Gerard Cleary from Glenisk and local Laois man, Tom Brennan from Eirgen Pharma.

Speakers at the Market Opportunities seminar included Aileen O’Toole, creator of the Bright Ideas campaign and former founder of the Sunday Business Post, while Orlagh Murphy from Enterprise Ireland highlighted opportunities for local companies within the Irish public sector.
