Data storage giant EMC has acquired service assurance software provider Watch4net for an undisclosed sum.
Watch4net is a privately-held provider of enterprise and carrier-class performance management software that provides real-time, historical and projected visibility into network, data centre and cloud infrastructure performance.
The company is based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
EMC has been delivering a management solution for networks, compute resources, and physical and virtual storage through its EMC IT Operations Intelligence Suite. With the acquisition of Watch4net, EMC can now offer Watch4net’s set of performance management capabilities.
“Regardless of where customers are along their journey to cloud computing, insight into every aspect of IT performance and the ability to manage it without growing staff and with increasing granularity, are no longer optional. By bringing Watch4net into the EMC portfolio and road map, EMC rounds out its world-class IT management solution to address customers’ most critical IT management needs across their physical and virtual IT environments,” said Jay Mastaj, senior vice-president and general manager, EMC Infrastructure Management Group.
Michel Foix, CEO of Watch4net said IT availability and performance management are ever-changing, and the advent of cloud computing has increased the need for an end-to-end, seamless solution.
Under the deal, Foix and the Watch4net team will report to Mastaj.
