Building solutions provider the Heiton Group has undertaken an extensive upgrade of its data storage and processing systems at a cost of €500k.

According to Maurice Veale, group head of IT with the Heiton Group, the project will see hardware and infrastructure installed at the group’s head office on Dublin’s Naas Road but used in the company’s 27 builder’s merchants outlets around Ireland.

The project is managed by the IT services firm Sabeo Technologies and involves a Cluster of HP Alpha ES45 servers as well as the installation of a HP RA5000 storage area network at Heiton headquarters. Sabeo was involved from the beginning of the project, working closely with Heiton’s IT team at various stages from capacity planning, to benchmarking and to rolling out the new infrastructure.

“This major upgrade will facilitate growth by allowing us to more than double our user base, aid increased functionality and overall improve user friendliness of our storage and processing systems,” added Veale.
