Nikon reveals nine new Coolpix cameras

Nikon has unveiled nine new Coolpix cameras which will be released between this month and the next.

The new range is aimed at a broad audience, particularly the youth market, and Nikon has made the new devices available in several different colours.

Nikon Coolpix S3100

The Coolpix S3100 includes a 14-megapixel CCD image sensor and a 5x optical zoom.

It has a slim 18.4mm body, offers a 2.7-inch TFT LCD screen and can capture 720p HD video.

The camera includes features such as Smile Timer, Blink Proof and Skin Softening to help make the subject of the photo look better.

The S3100 will cost €151 as is available from 17 March.

Nikon Coolpix S4100

The S4100 has a 14-megapixel sensor and a 3-inch touch control LCD display.

Touch-based features include the Touch Shutter, which sets the correct focus and exposure for the selected subject and takes a photo.

The camera can take 720p HD video and includes a 5x optical zoom NIKKOR lens. It has four advanced blur reduction functions to minimise the effect of subject movement and low light.

The camera also offers filter effects, such as selective colour.

The S4100 will cost €174 and is available from 24 February.

Nikon Coolpix S6100

The S6100 is at the higher end of the S range, with a 7x optical zoom and a 16-megapixel image sensor.

It includes a 3-inch touchscreen and anti-blur functionality.

The camera also offers Lens-shift Vibration Reduction.

The S6100 will cost €232 and is available from 24 February.

The S9100 has an 18x wide-angle lens, offering a range of 25mm to 450mm.

It includes a 12.1-megapixel CMOS image sensor to help take images in low light or bright conditions.

The camera shoots 1,080p HD video with stereo sound and includes an Easy Panorama feature, with 180-degree and 360-degree photos.

It offers a high ISO of up to 3200 to capture fast-moving objects, Hybrid VR to reduce image shake and Best Shot Selector which chooses the sharpest of up to 10 sequential shots.

The device also includes a range of filters, including high-contrast monochrome, soft focus and selective colour.

The S9100 will cost €348 and will be available 17 March.

Nikon Coolpix P300

The P300 offers a NIKKOR lens with a fast f/1.8 aperture, starts at an ultra-wide 24mm and has a 4.2x zoom.

Its modes include programmed auto, shutter-priority, aperture-priority and manual for control over the shot.

The camera has a 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and takes full HD video (1,080p) with stereo sound. Optical zoom and autofocus are available during recording and users can capture a photo while filming.

The Nikon Coolpix P300 will cost €348 and is available from 17 March.

Nikon Coolpix P500

The P500 offers a huge 36x optical zoom and a tiltable LCD monitor. It can shoot 1,080p HD video it its lens ranges from 22.5mm to 810mm.

It offers similar anti-blur technology to the S9100, with Hybrid VR, a high ISO of up to 3200 and a Best Shot Selector.

The zoom and auto focus is also available when shooting video and the camera also has HDMI connectivity to transfer media.

The P500 will cost €464 and is available from 3 March.

The Coolpix 2500 has a 4x wide-angle zoom lens and a 12-megapixel image sensor. It features Smile Timer, Blink Proof and Skin Softening features.

The camera also offers an Easy Mode, which optimises the settings according to the light conditions. It has Scene Auto Selector, providing the optimum “scene” depending on the situation.

Another mode includes Subject Tracking Auto-Focus, ensuring that the camera is focused on the selected subject.

The Coolpix S2500 will cost €116 and is available from 24 February.

The L23 is aimed at first-time camera users, with a large selection of automated features for quick snaps.

It has a 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens and a 2.7-inch screen on the back. The device also has Vibration Reduction and Motion Detection to avoid blurred images.

This 10.1-megapixel camera offers similar subject enhancing features as the S2500, such as Skin Softener and Smile Timer.

The L23 will cost €81 and is available from 24 February.

The L120 offers a 21x wide-angle zoom NIKKOR lens with a range from 25mm wide-angle to 525mm super-telephoto coverage.

Its side control level allows smooth, steady zooming throughout the zoom range for both movies and photos.

It has a 14.1-megapixel image sensor and four different automatic anti-blur functions.

The camera can shoot 720p HD video with stereo sound and HDMI connectivity.

The Coolpix L120 will cost €290 and is available from 24 February.
