Kainos launches App Camp for potential app developers

16 Feb 2011

Belfast-based IT consulting company and innovator Kainos has unveiled its first ever App Camp for would-be developers.

The eight-week Kainos App Camp is designed to find upcoming developers with raw talent and great ideas.

“Open to first-year university undergraduates, this exciting new programme is designed to hothouse the brightest and best new talent,” said Tom Gray, CTO at Kainos.

“We’re looking for new innovation, and see this as a fantastic way to engage with bright, young graduates – to find out first hand what they can do, while showing them more of what we at Kainos are about and all of the opportunities they could be exposed to by working for us.”

The chosen Kainos App Camp participants will have a chance to develop marketable iPhone/iPad development skills, under the tuition and guidance of experienced and regarded technical experts in the industry. They will also gain the skills and experience they need to understand the hardware and software, and support to prepare it for public launch, from graphic design to marketing.

At the end of the camp, Kainos will choose an overall winner from the competing apps. All campers will see their products launched in the official Apple App Store.

The Kainos App Camp is open to any first-year undergraduate, regardless of the course he or she is studying. Successful applicants will receive a free Apple Macbook and Apple iPod Touch, which they can keep afterwards.

Applications to Kainos App Camp are being accepted until 15 April. Actual dates for the camp, which will run out of Kainos’ Belfast office in summer 2011, will be agreed based on the availability of the selected campers.

Further details about Kainos App Camp are available on its website.
