New Twitter features focus on the user

11 Aug 2011

Twitter users will be finding more relevant tweets, especially those that mention them, as the microblogging site implements new features.

Twitter is replacing the Mentions tab with a tab that includes a user’s username. Clicking on this tab will reveal tweets in which a user is mentioned, which tweets by the user are considered Favourites or have been retweeted. A user will also be able to see tweets directly to them and popular tweets among the people a user follows, CNET reported.

Also new is the Activity tab, which will display the most recent Favourites and retweets from the people a user follows.

Twitter is rolling out these changes to just a few users at the moment, but more Twitter users should notice them in their own accounts over the next weeks.

The new tabs will only be available on Twitter’s website.
