Three techy ways to mark National Sandwich Day

It’s National Sandwich Day, and what better way to mark the occasion than taking a “byte” out of techology – through apps and websites.

The fourth Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu – whose birth date was 3 November – is the fella credited with creating the lunchtime staple in the 18th century. He reportedly asked his staff to serve him something he could eat with one hand so he wouldn’t have to interrupt his gambling game.

This free app is really more of a game that lets players build “the ultimate sandwich”, be it a burger, submarine, grilled sandwich or anything in between. This app is available for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

Sandwich Recipes claims to be the web’s largest recipe collection. While not much to look at initially, clicking through the site reveals a bounty of recipes that are easy to follow and include nutritional information.
