Cork start-up creates a concierge service for Hertz aimed at 500k tourists

10 Feb 2015

Cork start-up Smart Traveller has developed a smart concierge web app for car hire company Hertz to serve the 500,000 tourists to Ireland who use Hertz.

The online platform provides a round-the-clock concierge service for recommendations on restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions and is currently available in English, French and German.

Once a tourist has booked their car hire with Hertz, they will have access to Hertz Smart Traveller, which will allow visitors to go to places they might not find listed in the established travel guides.

“These visitors all want to know the best places to visit, eat and stay in around Ireland,” said Jim McCoy, Smart Traveller founder.

“Hertz Smart Traveller allows tourist focused businesses all over Ireland to connect with these tourists directly via the Hertz Smart Traveller website.”

McCoy said that already some 1,000 businesses and locations have signed up to the platform.

When tourists present their Hertz Ireland Document they will be able to avail of discounts and special offers.

As well as fingertip access to local weather, hotel rates and the nearest fuel station and pharmacy, the service also connects tourists to a dedicated 24 hour helpline.

“By leveraging an interactive and easy-to-use web platform, Hertz Smart Traveller will enhance the experience for these tourists travelling to Ireland by providing a round the clock service, accessible online and by phone that they can use for their entire visit to Ireland,” said Hertz Ireland sales manager Paul Manning.
