Inspired nominations for charity awards night

13 Oct 2005

The nominees for the first annual BT Inspired IT Awards have been announced. The awards, set up by research company iReach, were created to acknowledge the role of IT managers and their teams for delivering business value through the inspired use of IT in Ireland.

The list of nominees contains some of Ireland’s leading companies from all industries including AIB, Pfizer, Failte Ireland, Musgraves and Coillte. Each company will be hoping to win their industry category as well as the coveted title of Inspired Project of the Year at the awards ceremony due to take place in the Burlington Hotel on Wednesday 26 October.

As well as IT companies, the list contains top names from financial services, travel, retail, distribution, manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries as well as state-run companies.

Oisín Byrne, managing director of iReach, stated: “We are delighted at the response we’ve gotten in the first year of the awards. There were so many great projects submitted that we had a hard time finalising the shortlist. Having such big names involved is really a tribute to the importance of IT departments in modern business.”

While the awards recognise the excellent work being carried out in all industries by Irelands IT professionals, it is also an opportunity for the IT industry to give something back to Irish society. All proceeds from the awards event will be donated to Barnardos children’s charity.
