Yahoo! reshuffle expected this week

22 Feb 2009

The new CEO at Yahoo! Carol Bartz is expected to instigate significant management changes as early as this Wednesday, according to reports.

Little has been heard from Bartz (pictured) after she took over from Yahoo! founder Jerry Yang in December 2008.

In the meantime, there have been reports of a rekindling of talks between Yahoo! and Microsoft over a potential acquisition of Yahoo!’s search business. Last month, Yahoo! chairman Roy Bostock reportedly met with Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in New York.

However, according to a blog affiliated with the Wall Street Journal, Bartz is set to announce a major management reorganisation on Wednesday.

The reorganisation may include a structure where C-level executives such as the CIO and CFO and a more powerful chief marketing officer report directly to Bartz.

Also for greater visibility, Yahoo! may split its world operations into two rather than four regions, with one US executive and one international executive reporting to Bartz.
