Diaspora websites IrishCentral.com and WorldIrish.com to merge

2 Sep 2013

Diaspora websites IrishCentral.com and WorldIrish.com are to merge and forge a new entity that will go under the IrishCentral.com brand.

IrishCentral.com, which was formed in 2009, is a sister website to the Irish-American Irish Voice newspaper and Irish America magazine.

WorldIrish.com was unveiled at the Global Irish Economic Forum in October 2011, the brainchild of Riverdance co-founder John McColgan.

Irish Voice editor Niall O’Dowd said the intention now is to create a ‘super site’ that would serve the 70m Irish diaspora worldwide under the IrishCentral.com brand.

It is estimated the combined entity will have more than 2m unique visitors monthly.

The merger will take effect on 15 September.
