Confidence high in tech sector

5 Mar 2007

A new study has found record levels of confidence across the European technology sector and optimism about employment.

The annual IT confidence survey by Eurocom Worldwide in association with its Irish partner Simpson Financial & Technology PR found that 63pc of directors or executive-level staff expect to increase headcount and just 4pc expect job losses.

However, certain jobs are still moving to lower-cost centres such as China, India and Eastern Europe, according to 81pc of respondents.

Almost two thirds of respondents (65pc) are more confident about tech sector prospects in 2007, up from 53pc last year. Over 90pc expect revenues to increase over the next 12 months (79pc last year).

Jobs most in demand by the industry are software engineers followed by international sales, project management and domestic sales people.

The tech sectors expected to see most growth over the next 12 months are IT security followed by mobile services, on-demand computing (also known as software as a service), customer relationship management (CRM) and IT outsourcing.
