Office 2010 reaches RTM milestone

19 Apr 2010

With Microsoft Office 2010 hitting shelves for consumers in June and arriving for enterprise on 12 May, it reached RTM (Release to Manufacturing) over the weekend.

With the RTM milestone achieved this means that Office 2010 has been thoroughly beta tested and the code is locked down and ready to rumble.

This RTM also includes SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010.

“RTM is the final engineering milestone of a product release and our engineering team has poured their heart and soul into reaching this milestone,” said Takeshi Numoto, corporate vice-president, Microsoft Office.

“It is also an appropriate time to re-emphasise our sincere gratitude to the more than 5,000 organisations and partners who have worked with us on rapid deployment and testing of the products.”

Numoto said that since the pubic beta for Office 2010 kicked off in November 2009, more than 7.5m downloads had been made – three times the number of Windows 7 beta downloads.
