Toshiba has made two additions to its mini NB500 series of netbooks – the mini NB520 and the mini NB500

Both netbooks feature a 10.1-inch TruBrite display with LED backlighting. They both have a touchpad with multi-touch control functionality.

The netbooks run on Windows 7 and both models are compact, weighing 1.32kg and measuring at 17mm at the thinnest points, aiming at portability for users.

They also come in a variety of colours, such as blue, brown and green.

Mini NB520

The mini NB520 marks the first netbook to include embedded speakers designed by audio specialist Harman/Kardon.

Aimed at music lovers, the netbook offers Dolby Advanced Audio technology for optimal trebels, mid tones and base levels.

It’s the first Toshiba netbook to have a dual-core Intel processor, allowing for improved response times and the ability to easily run multiple programs at once.

The netbook also has Toshiba Sleep-and-Music to let users connect an MP3 player through the machine and play music through the speakers, even when the computer is turned off.

Mini NB500

The mini NB500 focuses on everyday computing offering up to eight hours of battery life.

It has a 250GB hard drive and an integrated webcam and built-in microphone for video chatting.

The netbook has an Intel Atom N455 processor and a multicard reader for media files.

The new additions to the NB500 series will be available from the end of January 2011.
