Foursquare introduces local updates for businesses (video)

20 Jul 2012

Foursquare has launched local updates to help almost 1m businesses that have claimed their location to use the service to connect with customers.

For business on Foursquare, a redesigned merchant dashboard now lets them share updates with customers, as well as update their information, create specials and check on their analytics.

People who have liked the business or have frequently checked in there will automatically see the updates in their Friends tab, but they’ll also get a public broadcast via the business page and Foursquare Explore. The updates will also appear as soon as a user checks into the business.

Users can decide they no longer want to receive updates from a business with a single tap.

Merchant tools have also undergone a revamp, with easier management for businesses with multiple locations and better analytics.
