Never mind the Xbox, here’s…

26 Sep 2007

So Halo 3 had Xbox 360 fans chomping at the bit in anticipation of its midnight release, but another games franchise has brought back British punk band, the Sex Pistols.

As part of the new Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, fans will be able to play along to new recordings from the classic punk album Never Mind the B….., Here’s the Sex Pistols.

For the first time in 30 years Johnny Rotten and his former bandmates shared studio time at Air Studios in London as they joined up with their old producer to record songs including Anarchy in the UK on equipment used in the 1977 original.

Singer Johnny Rotten along with guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook got together for the re-recording.

The game will be released on 28 November for the major consoles: Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and 3 and the Wii, as well as for the Mac and PC.

Players can jam along to rock classics like Metallica’s One and Iron Maiden’s Number of the Beast.

Other rock superstars appearing in the games include Slash from Guns ‘N Roses, Bret Michaels from Poison and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave.

Sadly there was no sign of Spinal Tap. Perhaps they were involved in a bizarre gardening accident.
