Irish developers launch web app for hotel guests

10 Feb 2014

Irish digital company LikeWhere has launched a web app in co-operation with the Marker Hotel, Dublin, to recommend places in Dublin using different cities as a template.

The web app, called Experience Your Dublin, is designed to give guests staying in the hotel the option of selecting their Dublin experience by selecting the cities and areas they are most familiar with. The app will instantly gather the places most similar to that area in Dublin, including restaurants, bars and attractions.

The idea behind the web app is to keep users on the website for significantly longer, increasing the likelihood of them booking their stay with the hotel.

Speaking about the partnership with the Marker, CEO of LikeWhere Simon Dempsey says, “Independent hotels need to view their websites in light of a user’s expectations and demands. We have been working hard to create a digital product that enables hotels to offer a meaningful resource to their users and guests. The Marker is helping us bring this to the Irish market and we are thrilled to have such a prestigious property using our technology and content.”

The web app homepage also features a map of Dublin, as well as some interesting bits of history and popular locations.

Tourists can also download and print specially made collections with regard to attractions like the city’s parks, shopping locations and nightlife.

LikeWhere was founded in 2012 and received backing for its creation from the Propeller Venture Accelerator programme from Dublin City University, which gives funding to start-up tech companies.
