16 Nov 2012

Sony has confirmed it has reached the milestone of 70m PlayStation 3 units sold so far, which brings it level with the number of Xbox 360 units Microsoft has seen sold worldwide.

Sony also revealed that sales of the PlayStation Move motion controller surpassed 15m units.

Sony launched the new PlayStation 3 model in September, which is half the size and weight of the original PlayStation 3 which launched in 2009.

The PlayStation Network now operates in 59 countries worldwide, with 170,000 items of content, including 57,000 items of game content.

PlayStation Move now has more than 400 compatible video games, including Sports Champions 2 and LittleBigPlanet Karting.

The month, Sony launched a new peripheral called Wonderbook, which it says represents the next evolution of storytelling, making use of the PlayStation Move wand and PlayStation Eye camera to tell stories through augmented reality.
