3 Ireland customers will be able to watch tomorrow’s Live Earth gig on their handsets following a deal with the event organisers.
The green awareness gig takes place in major cities around the world tomorrow including London, New York, Sydney, Hamburg, Tokyo, Johannesburg and Shanghai. It will feature major acts such as Madonna, The Police, Duran Duran, Kasabian, James Blunt and Snow Patrol.
All profits from customers watching the Live Earth gig on their mobiles will go to charity, 3 Ireland said. The mobile operator will offer looped content of all the gigs for 90 days from the event.
Customers will be able to choose the bands or gigs they want to watch, when they want to watch them. Unlimited access to all looped streams will cost 99c for 24 hours.
Graeme Slattery, 3’s head of music, commented: “With Live Earth signing mobile partners, it’s a real sign of the way mobile is changing the way we watch and listen to music.”
