Global storage virtualisation software provider DataCore has won four contracts with Irish county councils as it sets its sights on doubling its Irish customer base over the next year.

To this end it has appointed Rupert Collier as regional manager for Ireland, as well as two new Irish resellers, IT Force and Loughtec.

The contracts with the Irish local authorities are to solve disaster recovery issues and provide a backup infrastructure.

DataCore helped the councils to achieve significant savings by extending the life of existing hardware investments. Instead of paying for new hardware to be deployed on a second site, DataCore re-purposed storage and server hardware which the councils had freed up from other areas and used these to implement a full disaster recovery plan.

“We see high potential in the Irish market and over the coming year we will be investing more here as we look to strengthen our channel and grow our customer base,” said Collier.

“Our technology is ideal for data centres and cloud environments and Ireland probably has the most attractive climate in the world for investment in this sector, with the temperature rarely rising above 23°C or below -5°C.

“Storage demands are higher than ever with information growing at an exponential rate.”
