Yahoo! to auction off more than 100 domain names in Domainapalooza

13 Nov 2013

Yahoo! has discovered a hefty catalogue of unused domain names in its possession and has decided to release them back into the wild with a week-long auction handing over these premium URLs to the highest bidders.

Yahoo’s deputy general counsel Kevin Kramer claims the company has owned these domains for “quite some time”. Starting Thursday, 14 November, though, Domainapalooza begins to give this list of more than 100 domain names a new home.

Domains up for grabs include sandwich.com, blogsport.com, religious.net and truestory.com. Minimum prices for these covetable URLs vary. AV.com has a reserve range of US$1m to US$1.5m, while the more obscure batoota.com comes in between US$1,000 and US$5,000.

More domain names are expected to be added to the list during the week, but bidding closes on 21 November.
