LG to unveil its first Google TV at CES 2012

6 Jan 2012

LG will show off its first Google TV at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this month.

LG will join Samsung and Logitech in releasing a Google TV. Google recently updated the smart TV service, simplifying the interface and opening the platform to Android app developers.

LG’s TV will fuse Google’s Android-based TV interface with LG’s technology and will include the “Magic Remote Qwerty,” a combination of a voice-controlled Magic Remote with a QWERTY keyboard.

It will let users search online, access social networks and TV functions simultaneously.

The TV itself includes LG’s CINEMA 3D technology, which can be watched with battery-free glasses. 2D content can be viewed in 3D with one click of the remote control.

LG said it will continue to build on its own Smart TV platform alongside Google TV using open technology, such as Webkit browser and Linux.

The LG Google TV will be shown at this year’s Consumer Electronics show between 10-13 January.
