Derry entrepreneur creates online local business directory

5 Feb 2010

DCU graduate Joe Foster has launched a new online business directory called that aims to be the No 1 port of call for anyone looking for information on local businesses.

Foster, who grew up watching his father run a business, has realised that the majority of local businesses do not have a professional internet presence and the companies that are online do not have the time, money or expertise to keep ahead of the continually changing trends.

By bringing locally owned businesses together in one directory, provides them with a greater opportunity to succeed in connecting with local people. They have the added benefit of having an expert team looking after their combined internet marketing strategy, including their presence on Google and Facebook.

Foster says that what makes izudoo unique from other directories is the ability for businesses to easily post updates to promote their products or services across the web with no time delay.

The ethos behind izudoo

“The ethos of izudoo is the belief in supporting local trade by connecting local people with locally owned businesses. The directory will enhance the search for products, services and entertainment in the region. It is planned that visitors to the site will be able to snag a bargain in everything from eating out to the latest fashion.

“As izudoo grows, there will be a large range of special offers, from every type of local business, and to guarantee people never miss out on the latest deals, everyone can join the izudoo Facebook page, which already has thousands of friends

“People no longer have to trawl the internet looking for a local service as they can now visit izudoo and find what they want at the click of a mouse. Most local businesses realise that having an online presence is a necessity, as nowadays the majority of people search the internet before they purchase products or services. I would urge every local business to add their details to the directory.

“A standard listing is completely free and to celebrate the launch, any business that registers in the month of February will get a two-month free trial of our enhanced business package,” says Foster.
